Hello there!  I'm D.J. Fletcher, a self-made artist and author borne from the frozen north.  I’m currently working on a novel, among many other creative things, and I’d love to share them all with you.

I write a copious amount and I also draw a copious amount to accompany the writing that I do.  I've been writing ever since I could hold a pen, and I've been imagining stories and characters even longer.  As a young child I read more often than I engaged in conversation with the people around me.  I fell head over heels for Harry Potter, devoured The Mortal Instruments, and read the entire Hunger Games trilogy in a span of two days.

 

I adored books, but as I got older, I found the stories I craved were not the ones I could find in bookstores and libraries.  All my life, I’ve been dreaming up the stories I wanted, and now the time has finally come for those tales to come to life.

I want to write the stories that I needed to read as a child growing up, feeling alone in my disability, my gender, and my sexuality.  I want to write about unconventional people with unconventional problems.  I don't want to sugarcoat real world issues.  I want to write allegories with depth, meaning, and, ultimately, I want to write something that people can relate to.  I want my stories to let others know that they aren’t alone, and that they are capable of great things, too.
